Rwanda’s head coach, Adel Amrouche, is unhappy with his players after their 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The match took place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, and the loss pushed Rwanda to third place in Group C.
Speaking after the game, Amrouche said his team gave away two easy goals. He was frustrated that they conceded in the 10th minute, which forced him to change his tactics.
“My players lacked fighting spirit. I hate losing. I am not a loser,” Amrouche told reporters.
The coach was especially upset because Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame, was in the stadium to watch the match. He also acknowledged the fans who came to support the team.
Amrouche warned that some players might be replaced if they don’t improve.
Rwanda will now focus on their next match against Lesotho on Tuesday.
