Mohbad’s brother, friend arrested outside Lagos court

The police in Lagos have arrested Adura, the younger brother of the late singer Mohbad, along with his friend Ibrahim Koleosho, also known as King White. The arrest happened on Wednesday, March 19, at the Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos State.

According to reports, the two men were taken away after attending a court hearing about a phone they sold to someone named Damola Ayinde.

Their arrest is linked to a petition filed by actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi in December 2024. Fabiyi accused Adura of starting an Instagram chat where he claimed to have video proof of how Mohbad died. He also alleged that Adura demanded ₦3 million in Bitcoin for the video.

However, Adura denied the accusations. He said the chat was not from him but from Ayinde, the person who bought his phone. A forensic investigation has been conducted, and the court is still looking into the matter.

After the arrest, Adura’s mother, Abosede, released an emotional video online, crying and asking for help to find her son. She accused Yomi Fabiyi and another person named Sam Jojo of being responsible for what she called an “abduction.”

Speaking in Yoruba, she said

“Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to. He asked them to take my son away. My son did nothing to them. They must not lay a hand on him, he is sick. Demola, you’ve put me in trouble. Mohbad’s spirit will fight you.”

Earlier in December, Adura had demanded a public apology from Fabiyi and others. He claimed they hacked his TikTok account to ruin his reputation. He even filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against them for defamation and tampering with evidence.

A family member revealed that the arrest might have been linked to a recent argument between King White and Fabiyi. A police officer confirmed that the arrest was carried out by the Zone 2 Police Command.

We don’t know the whereabouts of Adura but I can confirm that his friend, Koleosho, was arrested after the court proceedings today. Everything just happened suddenly. We learnt there has been some exchange of words between Koleosho and Fabiyi over the issue relating to the phone and this may have led to the arrest. We don’t know where the security men came from but we have been trying to locate their whereabouts.” the family source disclosed

The case is still unfolding, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days.

Yes, they were arrested by the police operatives from Zone 2, Onikan, not men of the Lagos State Command,” he said.
