2026 WCQ: Rwanda midfielder predicts tough battle against Super Eagles

Rwanda midfielder Samuel Gueulette believes his team will face a big challenge when they play against Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Amavubi have started their qualification campaign strongly, winning three games and drawing one. They are currently leading Group C with seven points.

Their next match is against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday. Gueulette knows it will be a tough game but remains hopeful.

“We played against Nigeria twice in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers and got four points out of six, which was very good because they are a strong team. But this time, it will be harder,” Gueulette told The New Times.

He also praised the newly renovated Amahoro Stadium, saying it is always full of passionate fans.

“If we can at least get a point against Nigeria, it would be a good result. We will give our best to achieve a positive outcome,” he added.

The match promises to be an exciting one, as both teams fight for a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
