President Tinubu blames Fubara for pipeline explosion in Rivers

President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, citing the ongoing political crisis and security concerns. He blamed Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the instability in the state, saying that the governor failed to restore peace and maintain governance.

During a national broadcast on Tuesday, Tinubu expressed concern over the political tension in Rivers State. He accused Governor Fubara of demolishing the State Assembly complex and failing to rebuild it for over a year.

The President also criticized the governor for weakening the legislative arm of government, making it difficult for lawmakers to function properly.

Tinubu also pointed to recent security reports about pipeline vandalism in the state. He stated that militants had destroyed pipelines, but the governor had not taken any action to stop them. The President assured Nigerians that he had ordered security agencies to protect the people and secure the oil facilities in Rivers State.

Due to the worsening situation, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State. He appointed Retired Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas to take over administrative duties in the state. The President emphasized that he would not allow the crisis to continue without taking necessary action to restore peace and order.

The declaration of a state of emergency means the federal government will take control of the state’s administration until stability is restored.
