A senior presidential aide, Temitope Ajayi, has called for the death penalty for a corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, also known as Raye, after she criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration in a viral video.
Raye had posted a video online expressing frustration over the high cost of living in Nigeria. She blamed the Tinubu-led government for not providing relief to citizens.
After the video went viral, she claimed that some officials from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) contacted her, threatening her and asking her to delete the video.
Her complaint gained public attention, with many Nigerians condemning the NYSC officials for trying to silence her. However, in response to the situation, Ajayi stated on Facebook that Raye had violated her NYSC oath and code of conduct. He suggested that she should face the capital punishment outlined by the NYSC for such actions.
The controversy has sparked widespread debate, with many people questioning whether a corps member should be punished for expressing their opinion.
