Rivers Crisis: Fubara surrounds himself with those who wanted to be governor — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara for surrounding himself with people who wanted to be governor. Wike claims that these individuals are misleading Fubara and giving him poor advice.

Speaking at a grand reception for the Kalabari people in Rivers State, Wike said that he had previously warned against these political allies. According to him, they do not have the best interests of the state at heart.

“You surrounded yourself with people who wanted to be governor, whom I said ‘no, these people don’t mean well for Rivers State.’ They are the ones advising you. Do you think you will succeed? They will give you bad advice, and look at what is happening. You are already losing,” Wike said.

This latest comment from Wike comes after Fubara sent his budget presentation letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly, which is led by Martins Amaewhule. Following this, the Assembly declared an indefinite recess.

This political conflict has been ongoing for months. The Supreme Court recently ruled that 27 lawmakers, who were previously suspended, should return to their positions. However, the crisis between Wike and Fubara continues to affect governance in the state.
