Rivers crisis: Don’t take Fubara’s simplicity for weakness – SSG Danagogo warns

The Secretary to the Government of Rivers State, Tammy Danagogo, has warned people not to mistake Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s peaceful approach for weakness.

Danagogo gave this warning in response to criticism from some of the governor’s opponents, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Some critics questioned Danagogo’s role in the government, especially after he signed a letter inviting lawmakers to meet with the governor. Wike even dismissed the letter as useless.

Speaking at the commissioning of Okrika Grammar School, Danagogo explained that writing such a letter was part of his official duties. He stated that there was nothing wrong with him arranging an informal meeting and that he had done similar tasks under previous administrations.

He made it clear that his response was not about politics but about correcting false claims.

Danagogo also praised Governor Fubara for staying calm despite provocations, including the recent incident where the state assembly complex was locked, preventing the governor from presenting the budget.

He emphasized that the governor’s patience should not be seen as a sign of weakness but as a mark of strong leadership.
