Enugu government lifts ban on gaming licence renewal

The Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission has lifted the ban on gaming licence renewals. This change is part of new reforms to improve the gaming industry and promote responsible gaming.

According to the commission’s Executive Secretary, Arinze Arum, gaming operators can now renew their licences easily using a new digital platform called the Enugu State Gaming Regulatory Platform. This system will speed up the approval process, ensure better compliance, and make the licensing process more secure.

To make gaming operations more organized, the commission has taken several steps, including:

  • Setting up gaming offices in all 17 local government areas of Enugu State.
  • Hiring gaming inspectors to ensure businesses follow the rules.
  • Requiring gaming businesses to have permanent structures instead of makeshift stands.
  • Introducing an official Gaming Approval Signage for licensed operators.

The commission also announced exciting new projects, including the Rangers FC Dream Big Raffle and Good Cause Projects, which will begin soon.

In collaboration with Goflux Services Limited, the commission developed the Enugu State Gaming Regulatory Platform to automate compliance checks and improve revenue collection through digital payments.

Mr. Arum described this platform as a “game-changer” that will make regulation more efficient, increase revenue, and ensure fair gaming practices. He encouraged all gaming operators to renew their licences online and follow the new guidelines.
