The Nigerian Army has made progress in fighting crime in Plateau State. During their ongoing security operation, Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, soldiers arrested a 21-year-old gunrunner and neutralized two kidnappers in separate missions.
On March 12, 2025, soldiers carried out an operation in Kuru and Turu areas of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA). They engaged two armed kidnappers near a high ground in Kuru and eliminated them. The criminals had 18 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 9 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition.
On the same day, soldiers from 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN set up checkpoints on Bokkos – Bot – Mangu road in Bokkos LGA after receiving intelligence about illegal arms movement.
During the operation, they arrested a 21-year-old gunrunner, Mr. Sengi David, from Kopal Village in Panyam District, Mangu LGA. He was caught with one AK-47 magazine and 48 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The suspect and recovered weapons are now under investigation. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to security and urged the public to share useful information to help fight crime in the region.
