US President Donald Trump has promised that no Palestinians will be removed from Gaza. He made this statement on Wednesday, March 12, following an announcement by an Israeli official about a new plan to relocate Palestinians from the besieged territory.
Over the weekend, Israel’s far-right Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, revealed a proposal to set up an “Emigration Authority.” This office, under Israel’s Defense Ministry, would oversee the forced removal of Palestinians from Gaza. Smotrich also claimed that Trump’s administration supports the plan.
In February, Trump repeated his idea that the US should take control of Gaza. This suggestion has faced criticism, especially from European nations. Despite opposition, Trump remains committed to the idea, insisting that the US should “own” the territory amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
“Nobody is expelling any Palestinians,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question as he hosted Irish leader Micheál Martin in the Oval Office on Wednesday.
Arab leaders have strongly opposed Trump’s approach. They have proposed an alternative plan, but the US administration has rejected it. As the situation unfolds, the future of Gaza remains uncertain, with tensions high between global leaders over how to handle the crisis.
