Reps direct NCC to block all pornographic sites in Nigeria

The Nigerian House of Representatives has ordered the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to block all pornographic websites in the country. The lawmakers want internet service providers to remove access to such content immediately.

The decision came after a motion was raised by Dalhatu Tafoki, a lawmaker from Katsina State and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He argued that online pornography is a growing global issue, and Nigeria has not done enough to control it.

Tafoki pointed out that Nigeria is a religious country where both major faiths discourage nudity and obscene content. He also noted that several countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East have already banned pornography.

The lawmaker referred to studies by psychologists and sociologists, warning that watching pornography could lead to problems like addiction, prostitution, and adultery.

After a voice vote, lawmakers supported the motion. The House has now directed the NCC to enforce the ban and punish any internet provider that does not follow the order.
