Biafra: No judge withdrew from Nnamdi Kanu’s trial – Federal High Court

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has rejected claims that a judge withdrew from the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Biafra movement facing terrorism charges.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, the court also dismissed reports that its Chief Judge, John Tsoho, declared Kanu’s arrest and detention illegal. The statement, signed by Chief Registrar Malam Sulaiman Amida Hassan, called these reports false, misleading, and intended to cause confusion.

The court explained that Chief Judge Tsoho only reassigned Kanu’s case from Justice Binta Nyako to another judge. This was a routine judicial procedure and not an indication of withdrawal.

The court warned against spreading misinformation that could damage the judiciary’s reputation and urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate updates.

The Federal High Court emphasized its commitment to justice and due process. It also advised people to contact its Information Department for any further clarifications.

As the trial continues, the judiciary reassures the public of its dedication to handling the case fairly and transparently .
