The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has made it clear that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is not officially recognized as the leader of the party in the state. This statement was made by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, in response to a claim by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka.
Onojeghuo strongly criticized Morka’s statement, saying it was false and did not reflect the position of the Delta APC. He emphasized that the National Publicity Secretary has no power to appoint a leader for the state chapter of the party. According to him, leadership in Delta APC is a collective effort and not something that one person can declare.
He further explained that the APC constitution does not include a position for a “State Party Leader.” Therefore, any attempt to impose Omo-Agege as the leader is misleading and unfair to other stakeholders who have worked hard for the party’s growth.
Onojeghuo urged party members to ignore Morka’s statement, calling it a personal opinion rather than an official decision. He warned that such remarks could cause unnecessary divisions within the party.
He also stressed that Delta APC remains committed to building a united and progressive political platform. According to him, the party values the contributions of all its members, including Omo-Agege, but leadership should be determined through due process and internal democracy.
The Delta APC called on the national leadership of the party to caution Barr. Morka against making unauthorized statements. They warned that his comments could create unnecessary tension and disrupt the party’s unity.
In conclusion, the Delta APC reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders and ensuring that the party remains strong and united ahead of future elections.
