The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched an investigation into the actions of its personnel who stormed the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) headquarters in Lagos.
On Thursday, March 6, Air Force officers entered the IKEDC office in response to the disconnection of electricity at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja. During the invasion, they allegedly damaged office property, attacked employees, and took company assets.
Speaking at a press briefing, Adeniran Ademuwagun, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Logistics Command, condemned the incident and assured that the officers involved would be disciplined.
He also apologized to the management of Ikeja Electric, stressing that the Air Force remains committed to professionalism and order.
“We take citizens’ safety seriously, and Ikeja Electric should continue their operations without fear,” Ademuwagun said. “This matter will be investigated, and appropriate sanctions will be applied.”
Kola Adesina, Chairman of Ikeja Electric, described the attack as a terrible experience for the company’s staff.
“About 200 employees were present when it happened. Reports confirm that 10 people were injured, and several office assets were either damaged or taken away,” he explained. “It seriously disrupted our operations, but we appreciate the quick response from the Air Force leadership.
The attack has caused outrage, with many calling for accountability and steps to prevent such incidents in the future. The Nigerian Air Force has reassured the public that it will not tolerate misconduct among its personnel and will take action to maintain its integrity.
The situation highlights the need for improved communication and peaceful resolutions in cases of service disputes.
