I’ll continue to act as Senator as my suspension is illegal – Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has spoken out against her suspension from the Nigerian Senate. She called the decision unfair and insisted she would continue serving her constituents.

The Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for “gross misconduct” after a disagreement with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20. The argument started over seating arrangements but later escalated when she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment. He denied the allegation.

A Senate committee later dismissed her complaint, saying it did not follow the proper process.

In a social media post, Akpoti-Uduaghan criticized the decision, saying it was against justice and fairness.

She said, “My unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness, and equity.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan also made it clear that the suspension does not take away her position as an elected senator.

She stated, “The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator… I will continue to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027 and beyond.

Despite the suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan refuses to be silenced. She remains determined to continue her work and fight against what she calls an unfair system.

Her strong stance has sparked debates about fairness and justice in Nigeria’s political system. Many are watching to see what happens next.
