Change your communication strategies to attract more Abians into police – Otti tells PSC

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has called for a better strategy to encourage more Abians to join the Police Force. He made this statement on Tuesday while meeting with a team from the Police Service Commission (PSC), led by Mrs.

Uche Wokocha. The team was in Abia to conduct medical tests for candidates in the ongoing Police recruitment exercise.

Governor Otti stressed the importance of using a different method to communicate with Abians about joining the Police. He explained that the Police Force serves the entire country and that more Abians should be part of it.

He also mentioned that a similar approach worked for military recruitment last year and suggested applying the same strategy to the Police.

The governor assured the PSC team that the state government would continue to support their efforts. He also highlighted his administration’s fight against drug abuse, which has been a major issue affecting recruitment.

Mrs. Uche Wokocha, the leader of the PSC delegation, thanked Governor Otti for providing a space where Abians interested in joining the Police can complete their registration. She also called for more government support to encourage people to apply.

She pointed out that Abia has been unable to meet its recruitment quota due to several reasons, including a lack of interest in the Police Force and candidates failing medical tests, often due to substance abuse.

In recent years, the PSC has raised concerns about low recruitment numbers in Abia and other South-East states. With Governor Otti’s support, there is hope that more Abians will be encouraged to join the Police and contribute to national security.
