A suspected Yahoo boy has drawn the attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after posting an incriminating tweet on social media.
In his post, he encouraged people struggling with online fraud to share their chats in the comment section, promising to provide them with a fraud format. He also included a link to a Telegram channel where more fraud-related discussions could take place.
The EFCC, using its official social media account, responded to the tweet with a warning: “…..don’t forget the Eagle is watching.”
However, many Nigerians were not impressed by the response. They criticized the agency for merely reacting online instead of taking real action against the suspect.
This incident has sparked a conversation about the effectiveness of law enforcement in tackling cybercrime in Nigeria. Many believe that stronger measures should be taken to curb online fraud rather than just issuing warnings on social media.
