Sexual harassment: Address Natasha Akpoti’s allegations, your wife a distraction – Atiku’s aide to Akpabio

Paul Ibe, the media aide to former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for not directly addressing the sexual harassment allegations made against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Instead, Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, has taken the lead in defending him.

The controversy began when Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and intimidation. The claims became public following a disagreement over seat arrangements in the Senate.

The senator later revealed that Akpabio had made advances toward her, and when she refused, she faced intimidation, her motions were rejected, and some of her privileges were withdrawn.

In response, Akpabio’s wife, Unoma, dismissed the allegations, accusing Natasha of lying. She also questioned whether Natasha had her husband’s approval before making such claims public. Unoma then filed a N350 billion lawsuit against the senator at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Reacting to this, Paul Ibe argued that the lawsuit was a distraction and that Akpabio should respond to the allegations himself.

In a post on X, he questioned why the Senate President was silent while his wife took center stage. He emphasized that Natasha only needed approval from her constituents, not her husband, to speak out about the issue.

Ibe’s statement has fueled discussions on whether Akpabio should personally address the accusations instead of allowing third parties to defend him. The case continues to draw attention as Nigerians await a response from the Senate President himself.
