The political crisis in Rivers State continues as Dr. Chidi Lloyd, a close ally of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, insists that Governor Siminalayi Fubara must govern according to the law.
The Supreme Court recently ruled that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) must stop releasing funds to the Rivers State government until a properly constituted House of Assembly is in place. The court also ordered Martin Amaewhule to resume sitting with all elected members.
Following the ruling, Wike expressed happiness, stating that it was wrong for just three people to control the state assembly and make laws for the entire state. He said the judgment had restored order in Rivers politics.
Speaking on Channels Television, Lloyd said that Fubara would not be allowed to govern outside the constitution. He emphasized that all arms of government in Rivers State must function properly and that the Supreme Court’s decision must be respected.
He also accused the governor of attempting to demolish the assembly building but said Wike’s camp was now choosing peace. Lloyd urged Fubara to obey court rulings, as the Supreme Court’s judgment must be follow.
