The Ebira Peoples Association (EPA) has openly declared its support for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Nigerian Senate.
The group has also urged the Senate to ensure fairness and stop any form of harassment against its members.
In a statement released on Friday, Dr. Oyibo Godwin, the President General of EPA, condemned some recent happenings in the Senate.
He pointed out that Senator Natasha was removed as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content and was forced to change her seat without explanation. He described these actions as unfair and politically motivated, sparking outrage on social media.
The association recalled how events in the Senate unfolded—from the controversial “nightclub” remark to the removal of Natasha’s committee position and her seat reassignment. They believe these actions were deliberate and unjustified.
Initially, the association chose to remain silent, hoping the Senate would handle the situation fairly. However, they are now worried about the involvement of some tribal groups, which has complicated the matter.
The EPA has promised to keep monitoring everything happening, including the discussions at the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee. They have warned that they are taking notes and will respond at the right time if necessary.
The EPA has reaffirmed its trust in Senator Natasha, praising her excellent work as a legislator. They insist that she should not face harassment or punishment for any reason.
The group has made it clear that they will not remain silent if the unfair treatment continues. They are ready to take appropriate action to protect the dignity and rights of their senator.
The situation remains tense, and all eyes are on the Senate to see how things unfold.
