Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed reports suggesting that Luka Modric cannot play two matches in a row. These claims surfaced before Real Madrid’s LaLiga match against Real Betis on March 1 at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.
Modric, a key player for Los Blancos, scored the opening goal in their recent 2-0 win against Girona. However, he did not play in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad on February 26, which led to speculation about his ability to handle consecutive games.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Betis match, Ancelotti made it clear that Modric is in excellent condition.
“It’s NOT true that Luka Modric can’t play two games in a row because he’s 39. Luka can play without any problem,” Ancelotti stated. “He’s fit, well-trained, and physically strong. The data we have confirms that he is ready to play.”
Ancelotti has always praised Modric for his dedication and professionalism. After the Girona match, he described Modric as a “gift to football” and said the Croatian should continue playing for as long as he wants.
