Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has been referred to the Senate disciplinary panel following her protest over the reassignment of her seat in the chamber.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made this announcement during a Senate session on Tuesday.
He stated that the matter had been referred to the Senate’s Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee for investigation.
The issue started when Akpoti-Uduaghan’s seat was moved from the minority section to the last row without her approval. She opposed the change, which was seen as a violation of Senate rules.
Akpabio explained that the disciplinary panel would review the case and report back to the Senate.
He also recalled that during a previous discussion on the matter, Akpoti-Uduaghan was not even speaking from her designated seat, which led to efforts to restore order.
The Senate panel’s investigation will determine the next steps regarding the senator’s actions and the seat reassignment controversy.
