Serie A: Lookman refuses to comment on row with Gasperini

Ademola Lookman has chosen not to speak about his recent dispute with Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini.

The tension between them started when Gasperini criticized Lookman for missing a penalty in Atalanta’s home defeat to Club Brugge. In response, Lookman said the manager’s remarks were disrespectful.

Despite this, the Nigerian forward put the issue aside and delivered a stunning performance in Atalanta’s 5-0 victory over Empoli.

He scored twice and helped his team bounce back from their disappointing loss in Europe. However, when he was substituted in the 73rd minute, Lookman shook hands with assistant coach Tullio Gritti but ignored Gasperini.

After the match, Sky Sport Italia asked Lookman if the problem with Gasperini was resolved. Instead of answering, he shrugged, looked around, and simply said, “Finished?”

Speaking to DAZN, Lookman focused on the team’s performance rather than the controversy.

“The team won 5-0 today. We played well, showed quality, and everyone performed at a high level,” he said. “We take every game as it comes. We need to keep going and prepare for the next one.”

Atalanta’s dominant win was a strong response to their previous defeat. Whether Lookman and Gasperini will mend their relationship remains uncertain, but for now, the forward is letting his football do the talking.
