The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man named Kelvin Izekor for allegedly killing his wife, Success Izekor, in Benin City. The tragic incident happened on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at their home in Upper Mission Extension.
A resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the couple had recently gotten married. She expressed shock, saying, “I can’t believe what I saw. They were newlyweds, and no one expected this to happen.”
A disturbing video circulating on social media shows the police and local residents carrying the woman’s lifeless body. She had deep machete wounds on her head.
The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident. He stated that the suspect was about to be attacked by an angry mob before the police arrived.
“On February 22, 2025, at around 10:00 p.m., we received information that Kelvin Izekor had killed his wife and was about to be lynched by a mob. Officers from the Aduwawa Division quickly responded and found the woman’s body covered in blood with deep cuts on her head.
“It took serious effort to calm the crowd, rescue the suspect, and take him into custody. The woman was taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her death.”
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Betty Otimenyin, condemned the growing cases of domestic violence. She assured the public that a full investigation would be conducted and that justice would be served.
Moses Yamu emphasized that anyone found guilty would face the full consequences of the law.
