Katsina police foil bandit attack on Dutsinma-Kurfi highway

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully stopped an attack by suspected armed bandits on the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway in Dutsinma Local Government Area.

According to the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the attack happened early Sunday morning when bandits targeted officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

At about 12:57 a.m., a distress call alerted the police, who quickly mobilized officers from the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters. Upon reaching the scene, security forces exchanged gunfire with the attackers, forcing them to escape. Some of the bandits were injured during the gunfight.

Later, security operatives searched the area and found the body of one suspected bandit who had been neutralized. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing attackers as investigations continue.

The Katsina State Police Command reassured residents of their commitment to keeping the area safe. They urged the public to stay alert and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Katsina State has been facing security challenges, including bandit attacks and kidnappings, especially in rural areas. However, security agencies continue to work hard to protect lives and property.
