President Donald Trump has announced that Apple is moving its manufacturing from Mexico to the United States. The decision is linked to the U.S. tariffs on imports from Mexico and other countries.
During a meeting with U.S. governors at the White House, Trump said Apple CEO Tim Cook is planning to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in the U.S.
The President revealed that Apple has stopped building two plants in Mexico and will now build them in the U.S. instead.
Trump shared his conversation with Cook, saying, “He’s investing hundreds of billions of dollars. I hope he has announced it, but all I do is tell the truth.”
He added that many other companies, including chip makers and auto manufacturers, are also bringing their investments to the U.S.
Apple has not officially confirmed the decision, and Tim Cook has not made a public statement about it. However, Trump hinted that companies prefer to manufacture in the U.S. rather than pay high tariffs.
The White House recently introduced a 25% extra tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tariff on imports from China. These tariffs are pushing businesses to shift their operations to the U.S. to avoid extra costs.
Apple’s move could mean more jobs and a stronger economy in the U.S. as more companies follow suit.
