Amotekun sends back 114 northerners rounded up in Ondo to their states

The Amotekun security group in Ondo State has sent 114 people back to their home states after they were found entering forest areas illegally.

These individuals, mostly from northern Nigeria, were caught traveling in two trucks towards forests in Ore and Ofosu.

Speaking to the media, Amotekun’s State Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said security forces have been working hard to stop unauthorized people from settling in the state’s forests.

He explained that the governor ordered security officers to remove anyone found in deep forest areas without a valid reason.

During the operation, Amotekun recovered weapons, including locally made guns, from the individuals. Adeleye said the group was suspected of using the forests as a hiding place to launch attacks before escaping.

After a detailed check, only three individuals could explain their destination and purpose. The rest had no clear reason for being there.

While freedom of movement is allowed by law, the commander stressed that it must be for legal and proper reasons. Following the governor’s directive, the individuals were immediately sent back to their respective states.

At the press briefing, some of the confiscated weapons were displayed. The leader of the Hausa community in Ondo State, Bala Umaru, supported the government’s actions, saying it was necessary for the security of the state.

The individuals have now been transported back to different parts of the country.
