Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca described their 3-0 defeat against Brighton as the worst performance since he took charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had lost 2-1 to Brighton in the FA Cup the previous weekend and were looking for revenge in their Premier League clash on Friday night. However, things went from bad to worse as Brighton dominated the game.
Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring with a brilliant goal, and Yankuba Minteh added two more to secure a comfortable win for the home side.
Maresca admitted his disappointment, especially since a win could have pushed Chelsea closer to third place in the league. “For half an hour, we were in control, but after Mitoma’s goal, we started struggling,” he said.
He also pointed out injuries as a major problem, especially in the attacking positions. “Some important players are out, but we need to find a solution,” Maresca added.
Chelsea fans were left frustrated as their team failed to respond, and Maresca now faces the challenge of turning things around quickly.
