The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has refused to explain why it denied a visa to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa. The Commission stated that it could not share details due to “privacy reasons.”
Musa was supposed to attend an event in Canada honoring injured veterans. However, he and some of his team members were denied visas, while others were granted entry.
Speaking at an event in Abuja, Musa expressed his disappointment, saying, “Every disappointment is a blessing. I was meant to be in Canada for an event honoring our veterans, but only half of the team received visas.”
In response to media reports, the Canadian High Commission posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is aware of media reports related to planned travel to Canada by senior officials. However, for privacy reasons, we are unable to provide any comment on the status of visa applications of specific individuals.”
The reason for the visa denial remains unclear, but the situation has raised questions about diplomatic relations between the two countries.
