Kano Senator Assaulted At Emir Sanusi’s Daughter’s Wedding For His Ties With APC

Senator Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South, was attacked at the wedding of Amina Muhammad Sanusi, daughter of Emir of Kano, Muhammad Lamido Sanusi.

A video shared online shows an angry elderly man attempting to hit Sumaila with his shoe. The man accused the senator of betraying the Kwankwasiyya Movement’s leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, by aligning with President Bola Tinubu.

Sumaila was elected under the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), but some Kwankwasiyya supporters have recently criticized him for his ties with Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The situation was brought under control after Governor Abba Yusuf stepped in. Sumaila has defended himself, saying it was Kwankwaso who first encouraged Kano lawmakers to engage with APC leaders.

The incident highlights the growing political tension in Kano.
