Movement prohibited’ – Israeli troops to remain in South Lebanon despite withdrawal deadline

Israeli soldiers will not leave Southern Lebanon, even though the deadline for their withdrawal is near.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman, Avichay Adraee, confirmed this on Wednesday. He also warned civilians not to return to the area.

“The IDF is still in the region, so movement southward is not allowed,” Adraee posted on social media platform X.

“For your safety, do not go back to your homes in these areas until further notice,” he added. “Anyone moving south is putting themselves in danger.”

Adraee also mentioned that the ceasefire agreement’s implementation period had been extended. However, he did not specify who made this decision or provide any proof.

Under a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon made in November, Israeli forces were supposed to leave Southern Lebanon by January 26. Later, the deadline was extended to February 18.

According to Lebanese reports, Israel has now asked for another extension through the committee managing the ceasefire.

This update follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s return from Washington, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump.
