The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has annulled the suspension of Senator Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), calling it illegal.
This decision follows a statement on February 11, 2025, from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who criticized the suspension as unconstitutional.
Wabara’s suspension came after he supported Governor Alex Otti’s re-election campaign in October 2023, just five months after his first term began.
The Abia State chapter of the PDP had imposed the suspension, but the NWC quickly rejected it.
According to Ologunagba, the suspension violated the PDP Constitution, particularly Section 57 (7), which says that no State Working Committee can suspend or discipline members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) without consulting the NWC.
The NWC’s statement emphasized that no action should be taken against Wabara by the Abia State chapter, as he is part of the NEC.
They warned those behind the suspension to reconsider their actions, stating that further steps would be taken to protect the party’s stability and constitutional integrity.
