Fashion entrepreneur Toyin Lawani has shared her struggles with severe back pain and a degenerating spine. She believes these issues are a result of epidural anesthesia, an injection commonly given to women during childbirth to reduce pain.
Lawani spoke about her experience in a video posted on social media. She explained that ever since she received the epidural injection, she has not felt like herself.
She also accused doctors of not fully informing women about the long-term effects of the procedure.
The mother of three said she had epidurals for the birth of her last two children. According to her, the pain in her back has not gone away, and she now has implants in her spine.
She also experiences difficulty standing for long periods and sometimes struggles to breathe.
Lawani warned other women to be cautious, saying, “When you hear ‘epidural,’ run. Doctors mention the side effects, but they do not tell you about the long-term damage it can cause.”
She also revealed that some of her friends are experiencing similar health problems after receiving epidurals.
She added, “I am only 42, yet I have spine issues. My spine is degenerating, and I go paralyzed sometimes. The pain never stops.”
Her story has sparked discussions online about the potential risks of epidural anesthesia and whether women receive enough information before choosing the procedure.
