Weapons alone won’t solve Nigeria’s insecurity problem – Gov Abdulrazaq

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has said that solving Nigeria’s security problems is not just about buying weapons. He believes that proper infrastructure is also necessary to help the military work more effectively.

He made this statement on Monday while opening the newly built Quarter Guard and renovated headquarters of the 22 Armoured Brigade at Sobi, Ilorin. The governor explained that the military needs more than just arms to maintain peace and stability.

“It is not just about buying weapons; it is also about putting infrastructure in place for the military to be able to do their work properly,” Abdulrazaq said.

He praised the Nigerian Army for completing the projects, which align with the Chief of Army Staff’s goal of maintaining military facilities. He also appreciated the efforts of the 22 Armoured Brigade in keeping Kwara State safe.

To further support security agencies, Governor Abdulrazaq handed over three new vehicles and 10 motorcycles to boost the command’s operations.

Maj. Gen. Obinna Onubogu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, thanked the governor for his continuous support.

“The support of the Kwara State Government has strengthened our capacity to maintain peace and respond effectively to security threats,” Onubogu said.
