A video has surfaced online showing a female student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) fighting a lecturer after he interrupted her while she was recording a dance video.

The incident happened in a corridor within her department. The lecturer, identified as Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye from the Faculty of Arts, was trying to pass through and tapped the student while saying, “Excuse me.”

In response, the student looked at him angrily and said, “Can you imagine? He just hit me.”

Another part of the video shows the student physically attacking the lecturer while other students gathered to intervene. The lecturer, raising his hands, appeared to show that he was not touching her.

A statement, allegedly from the lecturer, has been circulating in the university’s WhatsApp groups. In the chats, the lecturer claimed he overheard the student insulting him after he walked past. He returned to check if she was his student and allegedly reached for her phone. In reaction, the student reportedly bit him on both arms.

Photos shared online show visible bite marks on the lecturer’s arm.

The student involved is said to be a 300-level History and International Studies student. Reports also claim she is the daughter of a female lecturer in the university’s Engineering department.

The incident has sparked discussions online, with many debating who was at fault.
