Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that he impregnated Big Brother Naija star, Nengi.

On Monday, reports surfaced online claiming that Nengi had given birth to the governor’s child. The speculation spread quickly, with many people discussing it on various social media platforms.

However, Nengi took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air. She firmly denied the claims, stating, “Let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any governor.”

Despite her statement, the rumors continued to spread. In response, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, the Director-General of New Media to the governor, released a statement on Facebook, calling the news false. He emphasized that Nengi has no personal relationship with Governor Diri.

Oredipe also blamed political enemies for spreading the false information, saying it was a deliberate attempt to distract people from the governor’s 5th anniversary celebrations. He further condemned the misuse of social media in spreading fake news.

“This is just another attempt to mislead the public,” he said. “Nengi herself has denied these rumors, yet some people keep pushing false stories.”

The incident highlights the growing issue of misinformation on social media, where false reports can quickly go viral despite being debunked.
