Elon Musk’s top DOGE staffer quits over his resurfaced racist social media posts

Marko Elez, a 25-year-old software engineer working with Elon Musk’s DOGE project, resigned after old racist posts from his social media resurfaced.

Elez, who was tasked with cutting costs and preventing fraud at the Treasury Department as part of Musk’s DOGE efforts, had previously worked at Musk’s companies, X and SpaceX.

Elez was one of the two temporary staffers given access to a sensitive Treasury system responsible for processing trillions of dollars in payments each year. However, his past posts on Musk’s X platform came to light.

In one, he wrote, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” and in another, “Normalize Indian hate.” He also posted, “I was racist before it was cool,” and advocated for repealing the Civil Rights Act.

All of the posts were deleted after being uncovered. White House officials confirmed his resignation shortly after the news broke.
