Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has shared the reason behind relocating his children to the UK. Speaking on the Uncolored podcast, he revealed that his kids have been living in the UK for two years, mainly due to concerns about bullying in Nigerian schools.
Bovi explained that his first son moved to a boarding school in the UK in 2021. He wanted his child to experience boarding school life, just like he did, but not in Nigeria.
According to him, Nigerian schools have accepted bullying as part of the system, where senior students mistreat juniors under the excuse of discipline.
The comedian also spoke about the increasing number of Nigerians leaving the country. He noted that Nigeria has been lucky to avoid war, major food shortages, and natural disasters.
However, essential sectors like healthcare are struggling. Many Nigerian doctors are leaving for better opportunities abroad, not just for higher pay but also for better working conditions.
Bovi pointed out that some patients in Nigeria die due to power failures during surgery or a lack of basic medical supplies like blood.
He questioned whether any doctor would want to work in such conditions, suggesting that the government should improve facilities to stop skilled professionals from leaving.
For Bovi, ensuring a better future for his children meant giving them an education in a system that prioritizes their safety and growth.
