Lords Chosen Church Members Killed By Herdsmen In Nkaleha, Ebonyi

A tragic attack in Nkaleha, Ebonyi State, has left the community in mourning after suspected herdsmen killed at least six members of The Lord’s Chosen Church, including the pastor.

Reports indicate that over 30 people have died, and several houses were destroyed in the violence.

The attack happened last Sunday, with eyewitnesses saying the herdsmen stormed the area and killed many people, including those praying in the church.

A viral video shows dead bodies lying on the ground, while villagers wail in shock and grief.

Sources say the herdsmen attacked in retaliation for the alleged killing of their cattle.

This has caused more fear and panic in the community, as many now feel unsafe in their own homes.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, condemned the attack and blamed it on unknown outsiders.

However, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, a leading Igbo socio-cultural group, has reacted strongly.

The group’s National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, described the killings as “mindless and provocative.”

He demanded that the attackers be arrested and punished, stating that only justice would ease the pain of the people.

He also criticized the governor for referring to the assailants as “strangers” instead of taking firm action against them.

The people of Nkaleha are demanding urgent action to stop such attacks and prevent further bloodshed.

He said,

“we are sad that the marauding bandits who disguise as herdsmen are back in our communities.

“This is totally unacceptable and the perpetrators of this heinous crime must not be allowed to go scot-free.

“Whowever they are, wherever they are, the security agencies must go after them and make them account for their deadly mission.

“Our hearts are full of sorrow and pain that our men and women were cut short in their prime for no fault of theirs, except the fact that they are citizens of the entity called Nigeria.

“Never again shall the blood of our people be spilled and the perpetrators will be allowed to roam the streets; the police must go after them and ensure justice for the families of the victims.”

The tragedy has once again raised concerns about security in the region, with many calling on the government to protect innocent lives and bring the killers to justice.
