Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, recently visited Minna, the capital of Niger State, where she met with two former Nigerian leaders—General Ibrahim Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
She arrived in Minna on Tuesday, February 4, flying in on a private aircraft. At the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, she was warmly received by Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, and his wife, Fatima Bago.
From the airport, Mrs. Tinubu proceeded to the home of General Ibrahim Babangida, where she had a private meeting with him that lasted about 35 minutes. The details of their discussion were not disclosed.
After her meeting with Babangida, she visited the residence of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, another former Nigerian leader, who lives nearby.
Although the reason for her visit was not made public, her engagement with these former leaders highlights her role in fostering relationships with key figures in Nigeria’s history.
Her visit has sparked interest, with many wondering if it is connected to political discussions, national unity, or other important matters.
Regardless of the purpose, the First Lady’s outreach to past leaders continues to be an essential part of the country’s political landscape.
