Max Air plane crash-lands, tyre bursts upon landing in Kano

A Max Air flight from Lagos had a terrifying landing at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Tuesday night. The plane, a Boeing 737 with registration number 5N-MBD, crash-landed after its front tyre burst.

The flight was carrying 53 passengers and six crew members when it landed at around 10:19 p.m. Suddenly, the front tyre burst into flames, sending smoke into the cabin.

One of the passengers, Aliyu Inuwa Mansir, described the frightening moment:

“The front tyre caught fire upon landing, and smoke filled the cabin. We had to evacuate quickly through the emergency exit. Firefighters were already working to put out the flames.”

Max Air’s Kano Station Manager, Malam Bello Ramalan, confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated. Airport firefighters acted fast to control the situation and prevent further damage.

The airline is now working with the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Aircraft and Equipment Department (AED) to determine what caused the tyre to burst.

Although no injuries were reported, this incident has raised concerns about aircraft safety. Authorities will investigate further to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

This event serves as a reminder of the importance of strict aircraft maintenance and emergency preparedness in the aviation industry.
