Israel To Send Russian Weapons Captured In Lebanon To Ukraine

Israel is reportedly planning to send Soviet and Russian-made weapons, captured during past conflicts in Lebanon, to Ukraine. This decision could signify Israel’s growing involvement in the ongoing war.

On Tuesday, Israeli officials held a meeting with Ukrainian diplomats to discuss transferring the weapons. Following this, U.S. military planes were spotted flying from Israel to an airbase in eastern Poland, close to Ukraine’s border.

A pro-Russia military blog called Two Majors shared photos of some of these weapons on Sunday. The images included dozens of shoulder-mounted missiles and screenshots of flight paths showing U.S. military planes traveling from Ramstein Airbase in Germany to Hatzerim Airbase in Israel, and then to Poland.

According to reports, about 60% of the weapons captured by Israel during its 2024 conflict with Hezbollah were made by the Soviet Union and Russia. These weapons include sniper rifles and advanced Kornet anti-tank missiles, supplied to Hezbollah by Syria—a key ally of Russia under Bashar al-Assad’s leadership.

If these transfers are confirmed, they could have a significant impact on Ukraine’s ability to defend itself in its war with Russia.
