Former Nigerian Minister of External Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, has spoken out against President Donald Trump’s inaugural speech, calling it the worst he has ever heard. Akinyemi, a distinguished professor of political science, pointed out that Trump’s speech seemed more focused on threats than leadership.
Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, and used his inaugural address to discuss issues like stopping illegal immigration and deporting criminals. He also declared that he had been “saved by God” to make America great again.
However, Akinyemi criticized Trump for speaking like a “warrior” rather than a leader of the world. He argued that the speech offered nothing to the rest of the world, instead carrying a tone of aggression. For Akinyemi, it was a speech filled with threats, not hope or cooperation.
