Jamie Carragher, the Liverpool legend, has criticized Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after a costly mistake in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday night. Although Chelsea secured all three points at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella, and Noni Madueke, Sanchez’s blunder caught the attention of the former footballer.
During the match, Sanchez failed to catch a routine corner from Matheus Cunha, under pressure from Santiago Bueno. The mishandled ball allowed Matt Doherty to score easily from close range, cutting Chelsea’s lead. Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, wasn’t impressed with the goalkeeper’s performance. He suggested that Sanchez might be more suited to playing for a team in the Premier League’s bottom half, rather than a top club like Chelsea.
Carragher also pointed out that Sanchez should have punched the ball away instead of trying to catch it. He stressed that it wasn’t a foul, and that as a Premier League goalkeeper, Sanchez should have handled the situation better. His comments highlight concerns about Sanchez’s ability to perform for a top-tier team.
