A man tragically lost his life after being electrocuted while trying to damage electrical cables at a transformer near Ribadu Square in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The incident occurred on January 19, 2025, at around 6:00 AM.
The police discovered the man’s body close to the transformer. It is believed that while attempting to vandalize the electrical cables, he came into contact with a live current, which caused a severe shock that knocked him unconscious and ultimately led to his death.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, confirmed the discovery of the body and stated that the man’s remains had been taken to the hospital for further investigation. Authorities have started looking into the incident to gather more details.
CP Dankombo Morris, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, warned the public about the dangers of tampering with electrical transformers. He encouraged local residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity around these vital installations.
