US: Trump moves presidential inauguration indoors, gives reason

Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has decided to hold his inauguration indoors at the U.S. Capitol this Monday. The decision comes after severe cold weather swept across the country, making outdoor celebrations unsafe. This will be the first time in 40 years that a presidential inauguration has taken place indoors. The last time this happened was in 1985, during Ronald Reagan’s second swearing-in.

Trump explained the decision on his Truth Social media platform, citing an “Arctic blast” that could pose risks to attendees. His main concern is for people’s safety, stating that he didn’t want anyone to get hurt. As a result, the inauguration speech, prayers, and other speeches will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda, a large ceremonial hall.

Trump also told his supporters that they could watch the ceremony on screens set up inside the Capital One Arena. The traditional presidential parade, which was planned to move down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, will now be held inside the arena as well due to the weather.

Trump won the 2024 election by defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, securing the highest number of electoral votes. This change to the inauguration plan marks a significant moment in his presidency.
