Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s star striker, has committed his future to the club by signing a new nine-and-a-half-year contract. This long-term deal will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until he turns 34, replacing his earlier contract that was set to end in June 2027.
Ahead of City’s Premier League clash with Ipswich Town, Haaland shared why he chose to extend his stay. Despite interest from top clubs like Real Madrid, Haaland said staying with Pep Guardiola’s side was an easy decision.
In an interview with the club’s website, Haaland said:
“After speaking with the people here—the board, the bosses, and Pep—it became an easy decision. The support I’ve received over the years has been incredible, and I’m delighted to stay. Now, I can fully focus on getting better, performing on the pitch, and giving the fans what they want.”
Haaland joined Manchester City in 2022 from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million. Since then, he has been a key player for the Premier League champions, scoring 111 goals in just 126 appearances. At only 24 years old, Haaland has already helped the club win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and a Champions League trophy.
By signing this record-breaking deal, Haaland has shown his confidence in Manchester City’s vision and his commitment to achieving more success with the team.
