A 29-year-old man was arrested by the police in Cross River State for allegedly killing his mother as part of a ritual. The tragic incident occurred on December 25, 2024, in Batriko, located in the Eastern Boki Local Government Area.

The police confirmed the suspect’s arrest on Friday, following a joint operation by local police and security personnel from Obudu. Reports say the suspect killed his mother, shaved her hair, and disposed of her body by throwing it into a well in Obudu Local Government Area.

The suspect was eventually apprehended in Obudu at the shrine of a native doctor. Security operatives found him carrying a bag with the shaved hair of his deceased mother. Both the suspect and the native doctor were taken into custody and are currently being held at the Obudu Divisional Police Headquarters for further questioning.

The shocking case has left the local community in disbelief, and investigations are ongoing.
