Police rescue 7-year-old girl abducted by mother’s customer in Ogun

In a swift operation, the Ogun State Police rescued seven-year-old Mercy Akande, who had been kidnapped by a customer of her mother. The incident took place in Sango-Ota, and the girl was found in the Ayetoro area of Ogun State.

According to the police, Mercy’s mother, a POS operator, reported that her regular customer was behind the kidnapping. The customer had visited the shop and bought food for Mercy before sending her on an errand to buy a sachet of water. While Mercy was on her way, the customer met her, and before her mother could notice, both the man and the girl had disappeared.

The police quickly launched an operation and successfully rescued Mercy. They also arrested those responsible for the abduction. The Ogun State Police’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Mercy was found by the anti-kidnapping team in Ayetoro. More details will be shared by the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, in a press briefing on December 30, 2024.

This incident highlights the importance of remaining vigilant and ensuring the safety of children in everyday situations.
