The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three members of the Shila Boys gang, a group known for criminal activities, for robbing churchgoers in Yola.
The police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, shared that the gang of five attacked people on their way to church early on Sunday morning, December 29, 2024, in the Jimeta area of Yola. Acting on reliable information, police officers quickly arrived at Bishop Street, where the incident occurred.
When the police tried to arrest the suspects, they were met with resistance as the gang members attacked the officers with machetes and knives. The officers used minimal force to subdue the attackers, leading to the arrest of three suspects. Two others managed to escape.
Recovered items from the suspects include machetes, knives, ATM cards, mobile phones, and a tricycle. The arrested suspects, who were injured during the incident, are receiving medical care and assisting the police in their investigation.
The police assure the public that further details will be shared as the investigation continues.
